Lexmark C710 SBE Color Laser Review

The Lexmark C710 SBE printer is a low cost high quality color laser option. This printer is probably the cheapest true 1200 dpi color laser available. Your looking at around $700 for this model and it has fewer features and less expandability than the more expensive Lexmark C750 color laser.

Another low cost color laser option

The Lexmark C710 SBE color laser is a true 1200 by 1200 dpi printer. I was very impressed with both the black and color output of the 1200 dpi Lexmark C750 and this printer shares the honours. However you must put up with much slower color printing than the C750.

The Lexmark C710 SBE has a duty cycle of between 20000 - 49999 pages per month. This is about right for a small workgroup type printer. If you're looking at larger volumes you will probably be best looking at the more expandable Lexmark C750 with it's higher duty cycle, faster print speed and network options.

Here are the specifications:

  • black: up to 16 ppm
  • color: up to 3 ppm
  • Total Media Capacity 300 sheets
  • 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi for both black and color
  • monthly volume: 20000 - 49999 pages

There is nothing to criticise this printer for especially at this price. I can't think of another 1200 dpi color laser you can get for this kind of money.

With a standard memory allocation of 32 MB this is a not a bad buy. The memory can be expanded to 384 mb but you will have to make do with only parallel connection and the need for a print server to share it on a network.

If your budget is already stretched but want to low running costs of a color laser over an inkjet then this might be the deal for you. This model is being run out at the moment and it is a last chance to get hold of a 1200 dpi printer at this price.
